Angie moved to DC in 2005 and has been a part of Advent since 2013. Previously, she and her husband David attended Advent's sister churches on Capitol Hill and in Northern Virginia. Angie works at a research and analysis non-profit, where she focuses on homeland security and emergency management issues. She is a generalist at heart and has found too many things she loves about DC; in no particular order, these include walkable neighborhoods, grand public spaces, and the opportunity to discuss public policy with friends day and night. She dreams of a world where all is made right. Angie and David have two children, Georgia and John, and live in Petworth.
Janicia Moore
Secretary
Janicia has lived in Washington, DC since 2009 and the Takoma neighborhood since 2016. She began attending Advent in 2022 after passing by the church one Sunday morning and noticing the welcome signs. She enjoys serving the church as a Welcome Team co-leader and a Children’s Ministry volunteer with the preschool class. Janicia is a marketing consultant, supporting federal health agencies with email strategy. She loves spending time with her godchildren (two of whom attend Advent), watching the latest Marvel movie, Advent’s summer supper clubs. Advent has given her such a beautiful community to belong to — her goal is to help others experience the same connection to God’s people at Advent.
Peter Boersma
Treasurer (Appointed Officer)
Peter moved to DC in 2018 and quickly started attending Church of the Advent, along with his wife, Rebecca. Since then he has led the Welcome Team, and been involved with the Refugee Support Ministry, Operations Team, and multiple Core Groups. Peter works as an epidemiologist within the federal government. He enjoys camping, exploring the city, trying to fix their house, and spending time with friends.
Alex Poulos
Councilperson At-Large
Alex Poulos grew up outside of Charlotte, NC attending a Foursquare Pentecostal church. Though a lifelong churchgoer, God got ahold of his life in a big way when he was 17. Shortly thereafter he started dating his future wife Brianna. They got married several years later while attending NC State University. Alex and Brianna have been at Advent since 2012, when they moved to the DC area for Alex to attend graduate school. Alex did an MA and PhD at Catholic University of America in Ancient Greek and Latin. His dissertation was a study of the poetry of Gregory of Nazianus, a key figure in the development of early Christian trinitarian theology. After graduating, rather than take up the peripatetic life of the scholar, he switched careers so that they could stay in the DC area at Advent. He now works in software development for a music streaming company. Alex and Brianna live in the Hyattsville, MD area with their four kids.

Kyla Snow
Councilperson At-Large
Kyla moved to DC in the fall of 2019 and settled into the U St/Adams Morgan neighborhood a few years later. She started attending Advent in early 2023, feeling called there-- much to her surprise--after visiting out of pure curiosity to see what an Anglican service was all about. Kyla is incredibly thankful for the deep community she has experienced at Advent in a highly transient city. She has enjoyed serving on the Altar Guild and being involved in Core Group and supper clubs. After working for over 5 years at the Department of Justice, Kyla joined a newly founded law firm practicing federal litigation. She loves hiking and traveling—most recently, she completed a 96-mile trek along Scotland's West Highland Way--and exploring DC’s many cafes, libraries, and farmers markets.
Justin Johnson

Justin works in national security, having spent time working on Capitol Hill, at a think tank, in the Pentagon, and now at a defense tech firm.
